Russian Foreign Ministry says no peace talks with Ukraine

Russia is not against ending hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, but Kiev takes the opposite position.

This was stated by the deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Galuzin, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”. He noted that Moscow appreciates the desire of a number of major international partners to assist the peace settlement.

Many provisions, such as those from China, echo our approaches to resolving the Ukrainian crisis and achieving the goals of the special military operation by political and diplomatic means. Among the ideas put forward by our partners, there are those that resonate with our views, including those related to the creation of an indivisible security space, the non-expansion of NATO to the east, and respect for the norms and principles of international and humanitarian law.

On this basis it would be possible to move forward, but the problem lies not in Russia but in the position of Kiev and its Anglo-Saxon masters,” Galuzin said in an interview with Izvestia.

He added that the West is publicly betting on what it calls Russia’s strategic defeat and on a mythical victory over Russia on the battlefield.

According to him, the Kiev regime is trying to present to the international public as a peace plan “some ridiculous list of ultimatum demands to Russia, demands that are absolutely unacceptable and completely disconnected from reality – the withdrawal of troops or Russia’s withdrawal from our four new regions,”.

Galuzin described Kiev’s “peace plan” as “a figment of an inflamed fantasy and recalled that talks on a peace settlement were held last spring at the request of the Ukrainian side.

In mid-April 2022, Ukraine withdrew from the negotiations and interrupted them at the behest of its Western mentors. If we assume that the process will be resumed now, it will be conducted under completely different conditions and with completely different realities. There are no prerequisites for a return to the process of starting peace talks and political and diplomatic methods of settling the Ukrainian crisis at the moment”, Galuzin summarized.
